Those Who Remain is a new generative and modular work to presented in two parts.
Part I: Concerto for Orchestra and Improvising Soloist
Inspired by two poems by the iconic Northwest poet Richard Hugo, Concerto for Orchestra and Improviser is a two-movement composition for orchestra (Seattle Symphony) and improvising soloist (guitarist Bill Frisell). The piece premiered on October 29th, 2015 at Benaroya Hall as part of the Sonic Evolution Series.
A recording of Those Who Remain: Concerto for Orchestra and Improvising Soloist will be released along with a recording of These Hills of Glory – Horvitz’s fourth string quartet – on National Sawdust in 2018.
