Pigpen (1992-1996) was the beginning of a long term musical partnership between Wayne Horvitz and alto saxophonist Briggan Krauss. Performing primarily in rock clubs in the Northwest, Pigpen also did two European tours as well as performances in Canada and New York. Special projects included collaborations with Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, Santana drummer Michael Shrieve, The Billy Tipton Saxophone Quartet, Bill Frisell, and Seattle icon Skerik. Also, Avant released V as in Victim (1994) and Cavity Search offered a live CD, Live In Poland (1995), recorded at the Akwarium in Warsaw. Tim Kerr also released a 7″ single – Kind Of Dead/Pattern 56/Interlude (1993).
What the critics said about Pigpen:
“If I had to guess what this was, without looking at the press kit, I would probably say something like, four guys locked into a studio with all this gear, lots of food, LSD, some pot, and a madman with something new to prove. This one’s a keeper!”
